Interpreter & Language Access Assistance

The City Court of Zachary is committed to providing persons of Limited English proficiency (“LEP”) with meaningful access to court programs and activities. ​​​​

Additional information may be obtained from the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Office of Language Access. Please follow the links below for assistance in requesting a court interpreter.

Interpreter/Language Services:

Under federal law and state policy, individuals are entitled to language assistance including 

an interpreter or translation services if you cannot speak or understand English.

​​​  FOR THOSE NEEDING HEARING ASSISTANCE:

​

  • The Court will arrange for a sign language interpreter whenever a person who cannot hear is a party to any legal proceeding or called as a witness.

  • To request a sign language interpreter, you must contact the court’s Language Access Coordinator, Quawanda Jackson, at 225-654-0044 or by email at zccinfo@zacharycitycourt.org. 

  • Requests should be made as far in advance as possible using our Request for Interpreter Form.

  FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY:​​

  • Any person wishing to request a language interpreter in order to participate in a Court proceeding should contact the court’s Language Access Coordinator, Quawanda Jackson by email at zccinfo@zacharycitycourt.org.

  • Requests for interpreters should be made as far in advance as possible using our Request for Interpreter Form.

  • All interpretation requests should describe the language and dialect sought.

  • Cualquier persona que desee solicitar un intérprete en suidioma con el fin de participar en un procedimiento judicial debe comunicarse con el secretario del tribunal por correo electrónico a zccinfo@zacharycitycourt.org

  • Las solicitudes de intérpretes debe hacerse con la mayor anticipación posible.

  • Todas las solicitudes de interpretación debe incluir una descripción del idioma y / ó dialecto solicitado.

  • Las solicitudes deben realizarse con la mayor antelación posible utilizando nuestro formulario de solicitud de intérprete.​​​
